Rowing Art

IMG_4672Last year I was invited to paint live at the Henley Regatta and, standing on the beautiful banks of the River Thames, I was intrigued by the challenge of capturing the essence of rowing on paper.  And it is a tricky one!  But anyone who knows me, understands that I thrive on challenge!

Then, following discussions regarding painting the winning teams and individuals of some the races in the National Schools Regatta this year, I was thrilled to be present at the event as resident artist.  This was hosted at the Olympic Rowing Venue at Eton Dorney.

It is hard to describe how amazing the event was.  The truly remarkable organisation and co-ordinatation behind the time trials and over 300 races is a sight to behold!  Beyond this, the atmosphere, friendliness and “true sportmanship” became apparent over the couple of days I was there.   The event is clearly all about the children and they were amazing!

So for the many wonderful people who came to visit me at my stand and chat about my paintings, all the volunteers and strong committee behind the event, I just want to say a huge thank you for making such a memorable weekend.

Over the next few weeks I will be working hard on painting for the winners of four of the races.  Please do let me know if you would like to see the finished pieces.  #trulyinspired 🙂
