British Polo Day 2016 – 50th Global Event

for instagram

Super huge congratulations to British Polo Day for celebrating in style their 50th Global Event at the home of the Black Bears Polo team at Henley on Thames this weekend.

The polo matches included some of the very best players in our country.

The polo ponies were of particular interest to me artistically this year.  They are beautiful, very fit and extremely lively!  One of my favourite parts of the day is the presentation of the award to the best pony, it is a chance to see how wonderful they are close-up.

I have lots of photos and inspiration for future pieces of artwork and I do think that my next direction will be probably something to do with the ponies, their beautiful eyes and somehow trying to capture that liveliness and spirit in the painting.

This piece I completed back in the studio, after  creating some preparatory sketches and adding further detail live at the event.

I will never be short of inspiration where there is action, life and excitement.  Trying to capture a moment on paper is challenging yet hugely rewarding.

Taking a day after the event to play with a few ideas for new pieces is always a great idea, strike while the images are fresh in your mind.

Another exciting thing from the day, I had the pleasure of meeting the hugely talented Christian Hook, the winner of Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2014.  His work is truly amazing!

I will be sharing soon the new pieces that I create from my day at British Polo day 2016, to receive updates by email, please add your name to my mailing list, please click here
